He stood on the top of the cliff beneath a lone tree. Above him the azure sky was streaked with a blazing orange. The sky was on fire. In his hand he held a noose. To his right was a smooth rock and beside it was the tree. He stood there, watching the scene before him while lost in his thoughts. The day before, he had watched the man whom he had once admired greatly and had respected undergo the unimaginable. He was truly devoted to the man and had loved him the way that the man loved him. However, upon meeting the wealthy lord, he had done something that was unimaginable. In one brief moment, all that love and devotion that he had for the other man had simply disappeared and an act of utter betrayal had been committed. As the result of the act, he had seen the man whom he had once cared for executed in the most brutal manner. He did not realize what he had done until he had watched the man die. He stood there, nailed to a cross, with blood streaking down his body. It wasnrsquo;t until he saw that sight did the man finally realize what he had done. Now, he stood there upon on the hill, crippled by his grief and by his guilt. He threw the noose upon the tree, secured it, and then stepped onto the rock. As he held the noose around his neck, he watched the sunset one last time. As the sun descended, so did his tears. When the sun finally disappeared, the man muttered an apology and then stepped off the rock. With a jerk of his body, a bag fell from beside his belt. It fell onto the ground and thirty silver coins spilled out of it. Night had come and the silver coins glistened under the moonlight. Judas Iscariot had seen his last sunset.
